NBUVB Phototherapy

What is Narrow Band UltraViolet B phototherapy?

Narrow Band UltraViolet B phototherapy (NBUVB) involves treatment with a very specific wavelength of light that has proven to be a safe and effective treatment option for thousands of patients all over the world.
NBUVB works by decreasing inflammation in the skin, leading to improvement in numerous skin conditions including psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo and a variety of other itchy skin conditions.

How Is NBUVB Different From a Tanning Booth or Sunbathing?

NBUVB eliminates harmful ultraviolet light wavelengths found in tanning booths or natural sunlight.  Since it only uses a very precise wavelength of UV light (311-312nm),  NBUVB avoids the significantly increased risk of skin cancer associated with other sources of UV light.

At the Dermatology Center of Canyon County, we commonly use NBUVB to safely treat a variety of skin conditions. We have the capability to treat the entire skin surface area if needed with our stand-up units, or can give more selective treatment in our hand and foot NBUVB boxes.

If you believe NBUVB may be helpful for you, please schedule an appointment to meet with one of our providers. At your visit, our providers will work with you to determine if NBUVB phototherapy is right for you.
